St. Lucia

Warring fleets of French and English bounty hunters have long finished squabbling over lush and lovely St. Lucia. The same laid-back tranquillity that seduced the original Arawak Indian settlers has been restored. Colonial haunts, colourful barques and beach-side cabins line the leeward coast. From the pristine greens of its championship Golf and Country Club in the north to the deep green forests that clothe its emblematic twin Pitons peaks in the south, you’ll find beaming Caribbean charm aplenty. There are fruits and handicrafts in the Straw Market at Castries, stunning coral reefs and idyllic beaches like those at Anse Chastenet, winding trails that lead through banana plantations, and smoking seams that puff and gurgle around Soufrière’s “drive-in” volcano.

Rodney Bay

With a deep, curving bay that leads out to Pigeon Point and the fort, Rodney Bay provides a perfect sheltered anchorage. Along with the marina, resort hotels, swish shopping malls and swanky or simple restaurants, snorkelling, scuba and water skiing, plus the golden sands of Reduit Beach all come highly recommended.
