 Editor's Review
Iran is home to one of the world's oldest continuous major civilizations dating from 4000 BC and boasts no fewer than 10 UNESCO world heritage sites. This alone makes it one of the undiscovered jewels in the tourist trade and yet Iran is packed full of other delightful secrets & surprises... just a few miles from Tehran, for example, is the world's fifth highest ski resort (rising to over 12,000 feet) with pistes that rival many of the Alpine resorts. Meanwhile, down in the fertile agricultural regions, Iran grows and exports nearly a billion dollars worth of pistachio nuts every year and over 90% of the world's saffron. And whilst we are talking luxury foods, where does the majority of the world's caviar comes from?... yes, Iran not only outstrips Russia in its caviar sales but even invented the word.
