Guarding the straits between the Med and the Atlantic, this colony has been in British hands for the last 300 years and Blighty shows no signs of letting go. Out and about, you’ll find clues like bobbies on the beat, pubs, pillar boxes and battered cod. Step inside the Rock to explore St Michael’s Cave or trace the maze of tunnels built during the Great Siege of 1779-83.
