Official Tourist Information Offices on the Chinese mainland can be hard to come by. Indeed, visitors to China should be wary of organisations claiming to be "official" bodies that are actually just travel agents. In your own country, you may find branches of the China National Tourism Administration (called China National Tourist Offices) but even these can provide innacurate or conflicting information.
Conversely, Hong Kong and Macau have their own tourism agencies, which are much more professional. Both the Hong Kong Tourism Board and The Macau Government Tourism Office offer plenty of free information, maps, and helpful advice, as well as their own useful websites. Below we have listed contact details for both the Macau and Hong Kong Tourism Centres.
