Highlights of China

Whether you are walking the Great Wall, exploring Beijing or shaking hands with Terracotta Warriors, China is always a fascinating land of culture and antiquities. Below are just some of the Chinese highlights submitted by you, our readers...

Beijing
Theres so much to see in Beijing and the best way is to either hire a guide or stay with a local family. I stayed with a friend who was living there and they took me to all the "must-see" sights. The great wall a few hours drive, the terracotta army is nearby, summer palace is a definate must-see. Go to a real chinese restaurant and you'll never order take-away again. Theres also fantastic markets the size of shopping malls, however they are all knock-off items so be wary. oh and haggle!! haggle, haggle, haggle.
Giverny

The amazing feat of construction, without the use of a single nail, is one of the true wonders of the Temple of Heaven. The most gratifying thing, however, is watching (and joining) the locals who sing, dance and play on the grounds of this magical venue.

The Great Wall of China was built over 2,000 years ago, by Qin Shi Huangdi, the first emperor of China during the Qin Dynasty. It stretches over 3,000 miles across the mountains of northern China, winding north and northwest of Beijing.

Shanghai
So interesting. That's why it's good to travel, because you can find out new things and see many cool places and different cultures. This people play real Mahjong while the Westerns play it on the computer.

Opened in 1951, People's Square is the 'Central Park' of Shanghai and, alongside the Shanghai Museum, is now the cultural heart of the city.

I saw a Bhuddist ceremony which I think was called Ringing of the Bell.
