Public Holidays in Austria

If you plan to visit Austria, don't forget to think about the dates of the Austrian public or bank holidays.

As in Germany, most national public holidays in Austria are of traditional religious origin with some celebrated only by the Protestant Church and others only by the Catholic Church. Whilst Austria is mostly Catholic, the observance of these public holidays can therefore vary according to where you are in Austria. See below for the full list of national holidays in Austria.
