Highlights of Argentina

Whether you are dancing a salsa in Buenos Aires or drinking a Mate tea in Cordoba, Argentina is constantly challenging the senses. Below are just some of the highlights submitted by you, our readers...

Buenos Aires
Argentina does not adopt daylight savings time. Therefore they are 1 hour ahead of Eastern Standard Time in the United States during the Northern Hemisphere summer and 2 hours ahead in the Northern Hemisphere winter

Buenos Aires is certainly the Paris of South America. A beautiful city filled with beautiful people.

One of the most important theatres in the Western World, Teatro Colon was constructed in 1908 and currently serves as the capital's opera house. Take a tour of this architectural masterpiece and you will be amazed by its vast proportions.

At over 450 feet wide, Avenida 9 Julio is the widest avenue in the world. It was named in honour of Argentina's birthdate, July 9, 1816 and the Obelisk was built in 1936 to commemorate the 400th anniversary of the founding of the city.

El Chalten
We took the walk from here up to the Laguna Los Tres and the Fitzroys... DO NOT DO THIS unless you are a reasonably fit person with no health problems. It is a seriously strenuous climb. Worth every foostep once you get there though!

Iguazu Falls
Cross the bridge over one of the many converging tributaries as its calm waters plunge into the thundering spray of the waterfalls below.

Los Glaciares National Park
Once in a lifetime experience. In Patagonia you can find many glaciers like this. Hope that they survive in this climate as long as possible.

After a big climb I sat on almost this exact spot and drank some yerba mate - Argentian tea - with some fellow trekkers. Great memories.

Tierra del Fuego
The views are amazing, nothing like anything i have seen before. The water so blue…. i've been a few times and regardless of the weather its the most wonderful place to visit!

Take the chair lift up to the impressive Martial Glacier and drink in the view down to the beautiful Beagle Channel below.
