Virtual Tour of Lendal Bridge over River Ouse, York, England
 Traveler Reviews and Information
Lois Ronberg says:
"The best view of the Lendal Bridge spanning the River Ouse, in York, is from the walkways beside it, you can then appreciate the architecture of this iron bridge which shows off to best advantage its gothic features. It has two towers each end, rather impressive are the Tower Barker and Lendal Towers which have been standing there since the bridge’s inception in 1863. The road bridge enables to you walk or drive from the York Railway Station to York Minster and there’s plenty to see and do in between. We wallked along this stretch of the river over our five-day stay and every day there was something different to see along the way. There are nine bridges over the River Ouse, around York, and several of them have steps down to the river which is a major drawcard for tourists and locals alike. You can walk for miles along the river and as you do you will see tourists out on the red and white ferries, taking the organised, daily trips to cruise alongside interesting places like the National Railway Museum, a definite must when you leave the river environs. From our Lendal Bridge vantage point we saw canoeists training in long row-boats and others just kyaking for the fun of it. Standing on the Lendal Bridge gives you great photo opportunities of river activity, including slow-going narrowboats, all framed by the superb, historic buildings which York is known for. When he designed Lendal Bridge, Thomas Page could never have envisaged the lengthy service it would clock up or the amount of activity it enables as one of York’s three main city bridges."
