Fuerteventura Travel Guide

Q: I was asked for my passport at a hotel in Tenerife, I did not mind showing it, but they wanted to keep it and return it at the end of my holiday... do they have a right to keep my passport? In fact does anyone ever have a right to keep my passport?
A: The official FCO advice on this is as follows: Hotels have a legal duty to register the passport details of tourists when they check in. Wait until the hotel staff have registered your passport details or taken a photocopy of your passport, rather than leaving it in reception to collect later. It may help to take your own photocopy.

 Traveler Reviews and Information
SANDRA says:
"For a winter break Fuerteventura is ideal, blue skies, hot sun, great beaches, friendly people, relaxing if you want it to be but plenty to do if you dont. Travelling by public transport is easy, if you are staying in Caleta de Fueste (a quieter resort but still with many attractions, great beach, good shopping, lovely restaurants and plenty of bars) there is a bus that goes into Puerto del Rosario to the central bus station ,a short ride away, then you can get a bus to most places from there. A visit to Corralejo is recommended, you can really see a lot of the island on your journey and the lovely golden beaches. Corralejo is a more lively resort and has a great market where you can haggle for bargains - never accept their first price as its highly inflated anyway! Organised day trips in abundance also, the children loved the visit to the zoo. There is also a trip to Lanzarote available. Bicycle hire is also a good way of seeing different places and there are cycle lanes in a lot of the towns. So all in all Fuerteventura is anything you want it to be, and all under the sun!"
Andrew Franks says:
