Q: Which are the best places to travel in Europe?
A: Big continent, big question... but given Mount Vesuvius has been active recently, we are going to put Sicily as our number one European destination this month.

"Limoncello - I have fond memories of Anacapri and its ‘’lemon’‘ shops, high above the wonderful Mediterranean, I want to go back right now! All over Anacapri, and the nearby Amalfi Coast, you see hosts of limoncello shops with the luxurious liqueur and other great souvenirs themed around the lemon. I bought a bottle in Anacapri and took it home to New Zealand. Lots of people had never heard of it so it became a ‘’limoncello ambassador’‘ until I opened it one evening to savour the memories of my Anacapri-Amalfi Coast holiday. This summertime taste sensation has a long history, going back to a family on Anacapri around 1900 (local legend or popular belief claims it for Anacapri!) . It is known that in 1988 a local businessman, Massimo Canale, registered the first trademark for limoncello. I’m glad it has survived because it tastes refreshing and tangy; you can drink it straight, with tonic water or perhaps champagne. The humble lemon grows in the copious citrus groves; thousands of trees provide the yellow treasure, in the popular Amalfi-Sorrento area of Italy. It is imperative that the wrinkled skin is used, for flavour - the liqueur must macerate for at least two months before it is ready for consumption. Tourists join locals with enthusiasm for limoncello because there is plenty to savour when you pour the traditional yellow liqueur. You don’t need an occasion, just the desire to indulge in a limoncello or two. The limoncello shops usually sell the liqueur and other household/kitchen linens, pottery, specialised gifts, toiletries all with lemon prints, designs, scents and flavours. Limoncello shops are a treat to visit, browse and decide what you want to take home for stunning souvenirs and memories of your visit to this beautiful part of the world. After your Anacapari limoncello shop visit walk to the centre of Anacapri and on up the hill, out to the look out point for absolutely stunning views of the Faraglioni rocks. I love Anacapri, Sorrento, the Amalfi Coast and all it they have to offer."
