Lois Ronberg says:
"A spritual place - The Great Wall of China - no matter which section you visit it is just fantastic. I visited some time ago now but it is set firmly in my photographic memory as if I was standing on it today. When you arrive at the crowded public area the steps loom up ahead of you. I thought Id try walking to the first tower, (think we went to the Badaling, North Pass area) before I knew it I was at the fourth tower, high up with breathtaking views. Every step I took I was mindful of the people whod died over the centuries it took to build this magnificent wall - our tour guide said many were interred in the walls! What a sacrifice they made to fortify their country from marauding Huns over 2000 years ago. Spine chilling. The portion we trekked up was just a small step of the many thousands of kilometres of winding wall which snakes across China and attracts millions of visitors a year to repaired and reconstructed sections. Some of it has disappeared but conservation of the public areas now offer the most stunning, interesting look at what has been claimed can be seen from the moon. Quite frankly I dont care a jot whether you can see it from outer space as I was just so impressed, so privileged to see it, to walk on it, to photograph it and to know it is there for many years to come for people of all race and creed to appreciate. The Great Wall of China has been a World Heritage site since 1987 and it surely should be - its protection is now assured.. You can take a variety of tours from Beijing but I would suggest you make your booking before leaving home as I found the language a bit of a barrier to booking things in China."

"China is on the map thanks to the Olympics"
360TG EDITOR says:
"The Great Wall of China was built over 2,000 years ago, by Qin Shi Huangdi, the first emperor of China during the Qin Dynasty. It stretches over 3,000 miles across the mountains of northern China, winding north and northwest of Beijing."
