Barcelona Travel Guide

Q: why are travellers cheques not accepted by banks in Calpe, Spain?
A: Unfortunately this is becoming more and more common in Spain. It seems the banks & exchange bureaux do not like the admin and the increasing risk of forgery.

Lois R says:
"The only time in my life I've seen a violet sunset and I didn't have my camera! What beauty there was that night - we strolled along the beach as the evening slowly crept upon us and a subtle, violet sun set over the Mediterranean Sea . Walking the promenade is fantastic on a sunny day in Barcelona, you pass outdoor activities, shops, restaurants and bars as you use your time to take in the fresh air and sunshine. Do head to the vast marina because there are some huge, impressive craft moored up and I love to think about the people living on them and the fun times they must have as I envisage my first purchase after I win the bit lotto. There’s 4.5 km of beach coastline around Barcelona so if you like a promenade walk and to beach-comb or to just sit and take in the sun, there is plenty of selection. Walk, cycle or kayak along, the choice is yours. As you do consider another way to see the promenade, beach and the sea - take the overhead ride, setting off from the port, crossing the waterfront and streets and on up to the hills behind Barcelona - haven’t done it but will do so next time I visit this great holiday destination, whether it be for a short weekend break or longer holiday. We had budget accommodation near this promenade but we used our travel cash for varied site-seeing and to dine out each evening. We choose a different restaurant each night - try out the early evening deals where you get the entire meal and a drink for a very reasonable price. Nothing like dining with friends while sipping on a sangria, with the smell of the sea adding to your Barcelona experience. Beach promenade, city ambling, day touring - there’s so much to do in Barcelona, anytime of year. "

"I love the fact that in Barcelona you get the beach, the history, the architecture and the nightlife all in one city. It's my favourite city for a short break."
Marta says:
"My next holidays I will spend there!!!!!!!!!"
