Nick Bilcliffe says:
"This is one of the 'Grand Old Dames' of Asia... a hotel still packed with history and retaining its old world charm. An oasis from the hustle and bustle of Bangkok much as it would have been in the days of Somerset Maugham."

Manpreet K says:
"Supposedly, the two best hotels in Bangkok are the Oriental and the Peninsula. They stand on opposite sides of the river and are both impressive. I could not afford to stay there when I visited but I was able to explore the lobbies and grounds of both hotels. They were equally spectacular although the Peninsula seemed a bit more modern and had better views over the river."
